Kawana Football Club is the 2022 Community Club of the Year

Kawana FC has received the 2022 Community Club of the year by FQ Sunshine Coast in the annual Regional Awards presented at the Sunshine Coast Stadium at half time in the FQPL3 Grand Final which ironically included Kawana’s team up against Premiers, Maroochydore FC.

Kawana FC was recognised for revamping the women & girls space while delivering positive change to culture which will deliver for the years ahead from Miniroos to Seniors. From Holiday Clinics, to Carnivals and hosting finals football, Kawana FC are consistently delivering for their members, maximising opportunities to participate in and celebrate football.

In receiving the award Club Secretary, Jo Morgan thanked FQ Sunshine Coast and said “On behalf of the hard working Committee and to our wider Kawana FC family, this is for you…Go Kawana” which received resounding applause from the pro Kawana FC crowd and the Banana Army.

Club President, Adam Shelly said “It was well deserved, it’s a long way from a strategic plan set almost 4 years ago to an achievement like this”. Kawana FC wanted to be a thriving force in the Community Football space and set a plan to achieve that.”

Communication with players and parents, making football affordable for families and the Clubs sustainability were seen as the areas of focus. We have grown our Miniroos/Juniors numbers by 27% and Seniors by 12% over the past year alone and already the early indication for 2023 we will see most of those return.

“You can play for a football club and you can represent a football club, but at Kawana FC you belong to a football club, you’re part of our family, you’re one of us….that’s the difference right there”
